About the business:

We’re a specialist organisation operating within a global, compliance-led industry. The business delivers assurance and certification services across environmental, social responsibility, and traceability standards.

Following continued growth, we’re looking to appoint a Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and support the ongoing development of a well-structured, scalable business.

The role:

This is a broad, hands-on position with full responsibility for the day-to-day finance function. As the Financial Controller, you’ll operate with a high level of autonomy, ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting, and providing meaningful insight to support business decisions.

This role suits someone who enjoys ownership, can work independently, and is comfortable operating in a growing business where flexibility, sound judgement, and practical problem-solving are key.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the full finance function
• Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Maintain and improve financial controls and processes
• Provide financial insight and support to senior leadership
• Ensure compliance with core accounting and reporting requirements
• Support business growth through robust financial management

About you:

We’re looking for a capable finance professional who brings structure, accuracy, and good judgement.

You should have:

• Minimum Level 3 CIMA (or equivalent)
• 3–5 years’ relevant finance experience
• Experience in producing management accounts
• Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Confidence in communicating with non-finance stakeholders

Desirable:

• Experience with Xero
• Experience with CRM systems (e.g. HubSpot)
• Background in an SME or service-based environment
