Our market-leading client in Guildford seeks a Technical Support IT Engineer to join their growing team.

The company has a modern and stunning office on the outskirts of Guildford. In this Technical Support IT Engineer role, you will be located at my client’s office, and there will also be travel to customers sites (usually, within an hour of Guildford). So, it is essential for the successful candidate to have their own vehicle.

What will the Technical Support IT Engineer be doing day-to-day?

In this role you will provide onsite ICT support to independent schools and education clients. You will typically visit one school each day, developing close relationships with each, becoming their trusted and valued IT service engineer.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic problem solver, with a broad range of technical competence and motivation to learn new skills.

Overview of the role:

  • Visit clients and perform technical maintenance and support tasks
  • Ensure support requests and tickets are responded to and resolved in a timely and friendly manner
  • Provide technical help to all levels of user, including senior leadership, teaching and admin staff, plus pupils in some cases
  • Escalate to 3rd line support and 3rd party service organisations as and when required
  • Keep clients up to date on service issues
  • As a field based role it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence and your own vehicle
  • Maintain and further develop technical skills

Technical Support IT Engineer – Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a field based client facing technical support role
  • Technical skills and experience with:
    • o Microsoft Office applications
    • o Microsoft 365 administration
    • o Windows Server administration experience, including Active Directory
    • o Network and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
    • o Printing troubleshooting
    • o Checking and maintaining data and systems backups
    • o Firewall and web-filter administration
