QA Specialist – Job description:

You will help ensure that our software solutions meet the highest possible standards. You will be working within a highly skilled team, where productivity and quality are of the essence.

As part of the Product Management team, you will be among a group of very driven high achievers who go above and beyond.  Every individual in our business contributes and makes a difference. You will be confident about speaking out and sharing your opinions in group discussions. You will be supported, but not handheld.

Role Profile

The Role will suit someone who loves the flexibility of a challenging environment and working on multiple tasks and activities simultaneously. Ideally, the candidate will love the skills involved in problem-solving. Not just logging issues but spending time working on the pattern or root cause. This will suit an initiative-taking individual who is flexible in their working approach on a day-to-day basis. No two days will necessarily be the same.

QA Specialist - Job Responsibilities:

  • Work in a highly collaborative environment to ensure the products meet the requirements
  • Plan, design, document and execute test procedures for new features and products, while constantly being aware of the regression impact
  • Log defects and work closely with developers to investigate, troubleshoot and verify fixes 
  • Accurately evaluate the time and effort needed to perform your work in the timeliest manner.
  • Effectively communicate testing activities and results in oral and written formats
  • Recommend improvements to the validation strategy
  • Assist the support team when required to resolve escalated customer issues
  • Participate in product design and requirements reviews
  • Actively engage in release deployment and associated tasks
  • Follow company and industry best practices, and contribute to the improvement of the software testing processes

QA Specialist - Experience and Skill Requirements

  • 2 years prior experience in a testing environment
  • Knowledge and experience in functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, UAT testing and browser compatibility testing, and appreciation of performance testing
  • A strong recall for previous subjects learned and issues raised
  • Experience of working with and on SQL Server. Knowledge and experience testing on cloud-based platforms
  • Technical SQL Server knowledge
  • Knowledge of PowerShell
  • API test experience
  • Experience with Automated Testing with respect to the process of what and when, or a clear demonstrable willingness to learn this skill set
  • Exposure to testing over IBM i.

Location:

Reporting to the QA Leader, the role will be based remotely with occasional meetups (currently quarterly in the Basingstoke area).
