About the Role
Technical Audit Proofreader
Location: Remote working – UK based
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
About the Organisation
Our client is a mission-led, not-for-profit independent certification body responsible for delivering global audit and assurance activities.
The organisation works to improve confidence, consistency and transparency throughout the audit, assurance and certification process.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Audit Proofreader to review reports submitted by approved auditors.
You will ensure that the information within each report is meaningful, accurate, logical and consistent. This includes identifying omissions, discrepancies and errors, and working directly with auditors to resolve any issues before certification can be issued.
This is not a traditional copywriting or proofreading role. It requires the ability to review and critically assess technical information and data against defined standards and guidelines.
You will also support the wider review team by identifying opportunities to improve reporting standards, consolidate data and increase the efficiency of the audit process.
Key Responsibilities
- Review technical audit reports and identify omissions, inconsistencies, errors and areas requiring clarification.
- Assess whether reported data is meaningful, logical and appropriate.
- Communicate with auditors to resolve deficiencies in reports or reporting processes.
- Identify differences in reporting approaches between auditors.
- Contribute to proposals for improving evaluation and reporting processes.
- Support the collection and consolidation of key report data.
- Maintain clear and accurate records in accordance with the organisation’s quality-management procedures.
- Support colleagues in ensuring audits and certification activities are completed promptly.
About You
You will ideally have:
- A science-based degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in chemistry or environmental science, although other disciplines will be considered.
- An excellent command of written English.
- Strong analytical and technical proofreading skills.
- The ability to identify errors, inconsistencies and gaps in complex reports and data.
- Exceptional attention to detail, combined with the ability to consider the wider context.
- A concise, methodical and impartial working style.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to investigate issues objectively and communicate findings clearly.
- High integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and remote communication tools.
Knowledge of auditing principles or experience reviewing audit, compliance, certification or assurance reports would be advantageous but is not essential.
What’s on Offer
- Permanent, full-time employment.
- Remote working within the UK.
- Flexible hours supporting a healthy work-life balance.
- The opportunity to join a mission-led, not-for-profit organisation.
- A collaborative and values-driven working environment.
- Opportunities for professional development.
- Salary £30,000 - £40,000.
