About the Role

AI Engineer

Remote | UK or Europe

Salary: £70,000 to £110,000 for UK-based candidates. Salary offered in other countries will vary depending on location.

I am working with a software company I know exceptionally well, having helped build a large proportion of their engineering team over the last few years.

They are now looking to hire three AI Engineers to join their world-class team. Two of these hires will focus on Coding Agents, while one will focus on Analysis/Results Validation.

This is a fully remote role open to candidates across the UK and Europe, with occasional meetups with colleagues in different locations.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a business building advanced technology that supports highly regulated processes at the heart of medical progress and innovation. Their platform helps specialist users plan, explore, build, validate, submit, and review complex clinical trial outputs faster, more accurately, and with greater confidence.

The role

As an AI Engineer, you will join a high-calibre engineering team focused on developing intelligent systems that solve complex real-world problems.

You will help design, build, and deploy advanced AI capabilities across a platform used within highly complex clinical trial environments. This will include working with LLMs, RAG systems, traceability data, and production AI pipelines to create intelligent agents that support coding, validation, documentation, onboarding, QA, and exploration workflows.

You will also play an important role in shaping the wider AI stack, including model selection, fine-tuning, benchmarking, regression testing, training and validation data strategy, production deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous platform improvement.

The opportunity

This team is hiring for three AI Engineering positions in total:

AI Engineer, Coding Agents

2 positions

These hires will focus on building agentic AI coding systems that can use specifications, code, data, and documentation from existing trials to plan and execute statistical analyses across both existing and new studies.

A major part of the value here comes from the platform’s structured traceability, which allows agents to retrieve the exact code and logic needed to understand outputs, assess the impact of changes, and make accurate updates across large and complex codebases. These agents will work across SAS, R, and Python, with outputs then validated through semi-automated processes ahead of submission.

AI Engineer, Analysis/Results Validation

1 position

This hire will focus on building AI agents that test whether data transformations and statistical outputs have been produced in line with their intended specifications. These systems will compare natural language requirements against implementation, identify discrepancies, and help suggest how issues can be resolved.

This role will be central to improving quality, integrity, and confidence across critical analysis and submission workflows.

Tech stack

The environment includes:

  • Python
  • Pandas
  • LLMs, including open-source models
  • RAG systems
  • Next.js
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • Argo Workflows
  • Antlr4
  • Java
  • Git
  • GitHub Actions

What they are looking for

  • Strong experience with LLMs and production deployment
  • Experience with RAG systems
  • Experience with non-LLM AI and production deployment
  • Strong Python and Pandas experience
  • Experience with at least one additional programming language
  • A strong interest in programming languages, parsing algorithms, interpreters, and compilers
  • An interest in data science and statistical analysis
  • The ability to build, manage, and improve codebases independently
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
  • A collaborative approach and strong team mindset
  • A strong documentation-led approach
  • An iterative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Nice to have

  • Experience with code generation, code validation, or code analysis
  • Experience in data or statistical analysis
  • Experience within clinical trials

Why apply?

This is an opportunity to join a team working on genuinely advanced AI challenges in an environment where the work has clear real-world value.

You will be building intelligent systems that improve the speed, quality, and confidence of highly important scientific and regulatory workflows, while joining a strong engineering culture built around collaboration, ownership, technical quality, and continuous improvement.
